The Maka Foundation was establsihed in April of 2005 for the specific purpose of raising funds for the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe Department of Wildlife, Fish and Recreation.  The foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization now provides a unique alternative funding source, through philanthropy, of the many critical environmental initiatives of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe.  These initiatives are not only crucial to the ecology of the reservation, but also have great economic impact.
