
The Maka Foundation office is located in the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Recreation's office building three miles north of the community of Lower Brule, South Dakota.
Tanya M. Krietlow – Executive Director
Tanya is an enrolled member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. She received a BA in Psychology from South Dakota State University and is currently pursuing an MA in Administrative Studies. Prior to joining the Maka Foundation as the Executive Director in Lower Brule, her work history includes counseling at the Pierre Indian Learning Center; a United States Probation Officer; and lastly as the Human Resource Director for the three South Dakota Urban Indian Health Clinics. .
To date, all of her career choices have had a direct impact on improving the lives of Native Americans and the communities in which they live. Tanya is currently on the Board of Directors for Civic CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), a member of the Tri-County Natural Disaster Planning Committee, and an adult leader in Boy Scouts Troop 27. Tanya is married and has a son who is sixteen. Tanya enjoys reading, running, spending time with her family in various outdoor activities and is thankful for all that living along the Missouri River has to offer.
